Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday said his Government “firmly” supported “peaceful coexistence” in the South Caucasus region.
In his remarks at the Georgia-Turkey-Azerbaijan tripartite cooperation format meeting in Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku, Darchiashvili noted Georgia would continue to “contribute to promoting peace and constructive cooperation” in the region.
We expressed our hope that Azerbaijan and Armenia would agree to and sign a peace agreement in the near future, which would be a turning point for establishing long-term peace and stability in the region”, he continued.

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Friday highlighted the importance of the Georgia-Turkey-Azerbaijan tripartite cooperation format meeting in Azerbaijan’s capital city of Baku this week for strengthening cooperation in the South Caucasus region.
Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Friday said Georgia’s membership in NATO required a “political decision” and called for a “strong leadership from the West” on “bold decisions” on the bloc’s enlargement.
Parliamentary ties, trade and economic cooperation were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Daniel Risch, the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein during the former’s visit to the country.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday highlighted a “very fruitful meeting and discussion” with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in his first foreign visit to Brussels, and announced his upcoming visits to the neighbouring countries by noting “enhancing relations with neighbours is one of the main priorities [of the Gov’t]”.
